Ah, the humble gift card.
Some hate them, especially if they are attached to a store you don't usually frequent, while some love them. And, sometimes you receive a gift card that is absolutely perfect for you.
Kind of like the one I received for Christmas. To HomeGoods.
Yup, no problem. I can use that.
The beauty of a well thought out gift card, is that the recipient can use it for whatever they want. Something practical.
Or, something not so practical.
Of course, you know what I went for.
Impractical, all the way.
So, when I stumbled upon this bird, it only took one double take.
A quick Instagram opinion check and in the cart she went.
But, when I got her home she looked so sad and lonely. I just had to go back and find her mate.
So much better. Don't you think?
Still not sure on what kind of birds these are, but I'm going with pheasants for now.
In case you couldn't tell, the've found a new home in our dining room on top of our Craigslist hutch. Their yellow/green color with rusty age spots work perfectly with our color scheme in the dining room. It's like they were made for each other.
Plus, the little touch of added interest atop a rather square and plain piece of furniture just can't be beat.
Thanks, Mom F, for the gift card. Obviously, I loved it.
After quite a bit of trial and error, I've finished off the shelving in the hutch. More to come later on that.
Thanks for sticking with me while the girls and I had our little getaway to Florida. A week in the sun was exactly what we needed to beat the dreaded winter blues.
