It's Monday - hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. We scheduled in a whole lot of nothin' and enjoyed every minute of it. Including a good hour pouring over magazines with my Saturday morning coffee, which led me to this beautiful home from the April issue of Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles.
There's so much to see and take in, it's hard to know where to start. The pool with arbor style cabana, the stepping stone patio, the lush planters, the connection between inside and outside living. Love it all.
But what really got me going were the similarities between the veranda featured in the magazine and the back porch addition we completed last year.
Ok, perhaps similarities is a bit of a strong word…but they do both have long spaces spilt between living and dining, with extra wide stairs and pergola inspired supports for the roof. Perhaps the biggest, most obvious difference, is the roof itself. We have a white polycarbonate covering while the inspiration picture features a beautiful metal roof with skylights.
So, here's the truth, we are not happy with our polycarbonate roof. It leaks. At every seam. The entire porch is soaked with every rain. Now, this bothers some of us (John) more than others (me), but it's important to recognize that it's not all about me (what?!?!?) so we are now researching a metal roof.
I'm not going to lie, I wasn't super excited about this potential project, but the inspirational image changes everything. Now I'm on board, 100%. Fingers crossed it's a possibility and that it can work with our existing structure.
until next time,
