Recent Projects

If I've seemed a bit absent around here it's only because our client projects have been monopolizing my time. Not that I'm complaining, because I couldn't be happier or more thrilled with where this year has taken Brass Pineapple Interiors. I am beyond thankful. Really. But I do feel bad for abandoning my posts here on the blog...so, as a consolation, I thought I might give you a peak at some of our most recent projects; some large, some small and all in various stages of completion.

Simple foyer update.
We shopped the house for lighting, added a new hanging fixture, mirrors and a couple of fun accents to a traditional space to give it a fresh new look.

A new family room.
It's not often that we have the pleasure of creating a space from scratch, but when we do, we definitely know how to fill it. You may have seen a couple of sneak peeks of this space on Instagram - we call it, leather and linen. Install for this space is scheduled for late October and I can't wait.

A living room refresh.
This client has a beautiful, huge space with most of the foundational pieces already in place. We are tasked with completing the room. We've had a couple set backs with out of stock items, but recently came into the groove when we located new rug and mirror options. Slow progress is still progress, we're getting there.

A new guest room.
Again, we were lucky to start this room from the very beginning - although we did have a jumping off point with the navy chair we had used in a previous design in their previous home. I love a good challenge and trying to incorporate the bold chair into the design without it stealing the show was just that - fun.

A great room refresh.
Yet another client who already had several foundational pieces in their space - couch, chairs, occasional tables, dining set, etc. We were challenged to work with some existing bold fabric and color choices and we're pleased with how the space started coming together, before our summer break. More to come...

Like I said, it's been a busy summer, but I wouldn't change a thing.

Tottenham House: Guest Bath {Client Work}

You may have thought this day would never come, but it has … the final installment of work at the Tottenham House. Today, we're sharing the guest bath; a beautiful space that plays double duty as the guest bath as well as the powder room just inside the front door. In other words, this space really needs to shine.

Like many of the other spaces in this family home, the foundation (vanity, wall color and mirror) was already in place when I stepped in. It just needed freshening - starting with a new shower curtain, runner and some simple accessories.

Who doesn't love a good tray on their vanity? Loving the capiz shell tray used to corral all the bathroom essentials here.

The star of the show is really that curtain - just look at the turquoise box pleat lining the base of the curtain. So cute. Especially paired with the plaid runner. Bathroom envy.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that this bathroom might be my favorite space in the house. And clearly, we've covered a lot. So that's definitely saying something.

Next week we'll be back in Charlotte and prepping for the school year to start. I can barely believe it! Have a great weekend.

Tottenham House: Guest Bedroom Before and After {Client Work}

Week 3, after a small change in plans, we're in Wisconsin for the final week of our Midwestern tour. Next weekend we'll be making our way home, then it's school time. Where has the summer gone?
Speaking of things coming to an end, I have two more posts from our Tottenham House project planned before it's time to move on.

For the last installment of this client project, we turned our attentions to the guest bedroom.
Here it is in it's before state.
The foundational pieces were all in place, like the bed and night stand, but it needed more storage, seating and general beautification.

Welcome to the Guest Room.
A beautifully layered bed welcomes any guest luck enough to stay in this room.

Festive coordinating art and accessories round out the bedside table.

Additional storage and seating complete the opposite side of the space.

A simple and bright update for a guest room.

Tottenham House: Dining Room Before and After {Client Work}

Next up at the Tottenham House project is the dining room. Much like the master bedroom, this space was pretty much a blank slate with only the chandelier to remain.

To compliment the living room, we choose coordinating grey upholstered chairs and a raw wood trestle table to convey a sense of casual elegance in the dining room that opens to the living room and kitchen.

The dining room also opens to the back porch, a factor that lead us to use an indoor outdoor rug in this space. Always a good option in a dining room anyway.

An antique tureen dresses the table.

Casual elegance in the dining room is always a favorite of mine and this simple design certainly speaks just that.

More of the Tottenham House project coming next week - until then, have a great weekend!

Tottenham House: Living Room Before and After {Client Work}

In case you're keeping track, the girls and I are now on week two of our midwestern tour, staying with my brother and his family in Michigan. While we while away the hours enjoying family time and lake living, I've put together another before and after from the Tottenham House project.

Original inspiration board for their living room makeover.

Living Room before.
The main couches, chairs and accent tables were already purchased - the room was mostly in need of the finishing details.

Pillows, rugs, accent chairs and accessories came together to create a cozy, homey look.

Love how the new wing chair works in this space to break up the height lines of the couches and plays so wonderfully with the transitional ikat rug.

You know how I love a round table between two couches; and a good pair of foo dogs; don't even get me started on the beautifully texturized lamp - wishing it was in my own home!

Sorry the lighting is so inconsistent between photos - a professional photographer I am most certainly not.

Amazing what some well chosen accessories will do for a space, am I right?

Later this week, we'll be moving right along to the dining room. Can't wait to share more of this gorgeous home.

Tottenham House: A Master Bath Nook {Client Work}

Who doesn't love a good master bath nook in need of decoration?  You know I do. Needless to say, I was thrilled to work on this little nook from our clients' Totteham House master bath.

The bath was a sea of grey and white desperately in need of a shot of color. Easy enough: layer in a colorful area rug and add a bright garden stool for a big pop of color.

Next up: balance out the masculine table with overly feminine, bright floral towels and add a touch of whimsy with a budha head. I mean, obviously, right?
Master bath done.

But don't worry, there's still more to share. Next week we'll be venturing downstairs!

Have a great weekend.

Tottenham House: Master Bedroom Before and After {Client Work}

While I'm on the road I've planned a couple of posts each week highlighting some of my most recent client work at the Tottenham house, home to the sweetest family of four. We started working on their bedroom makeover early in the year and finally wrapped up the last of the details this Summer. Good things come to those that wait, right?

Master suite makeover moodboard.

Before.
 Our clients requested a glam bedroom, with only the chandelier to remain.

After.

His side.

Bedding.

Her side.

Media.

This was such a fun project to work on, with such a fun couple! There's lots more to share…I'll be back later in the week with more updates from the master suite. Have a good one!

Mid Week Mini Makeover

Phew, what a weekend. Sorry for my little disappearing act. Put preschool graduation, a long weekend, beautiful weather and family in town together and time becomes a real scarcity. Besides, who wants to sit in front of a computer with all that excitement going on? But, now I'm back in front of the old computer and ready to share a little midweek, mini makeover that happened via e-design in my old stomping ground of Chicago.

 Check out the before image of your standard back patio complete with large, functional table and not much else. The task? Make the space more inviting, build out a color scheme, add extra seating, decor and plants.

Here's the plan. The color scheme was easy - especially with the addition of new throw pillows before we even got started - red, navy and teal.
Large scale planters anchor the space while garden stools add extra seating or a convenient drink perch.

After the moodboard and inspiration are sent, the waiting game is killer. I can't wait to see the end result. This one is just about perfect.

There are a few days left before the May promotion ends…set up your consultation now to take advantage of these grate rates. Email hello@brasspineappleinteriors.com to get started.

Foyer Contrasts {Client Work}

I recently had the pleasure of helping a sweet family of 5, the Hendrix, transition homes here in Charlotte. We were tasked with paint and lighting selections, furniture layout and tackling their biggest sticking point, the stone accent wall in the foyer. The wall isn't coming down anytime soon, so how do we work with it…

Contrast is the name of the game. To counteract the rugged, natural wall we upped the femininity and glamour to provide balance. A simple curvy, ladylike demilune table beneath an antiqued mirror flanked by a pair of super useful slipcovered chairs provide the basis. A couple of throw pillows in her existing neutral and blue scheme, and an orchid (my favorite!) for the finishing touch.

Here's what our clients had to say about the whole experience:

After four months of diligently searching, my husband and I finally found THE house for our family of five. We were (are) elated! Elated AND a bit overwhelmed with multiple cosmetic changes of the home - changes and updates that needed to be tackled
 sooner versus later (read: procrastinated out of fear of messing up). These seemingly separate projects needed to be tied together and planned out by a trusted professional...I have learned in the past that mistakes actually cost me more than asking for help and investing in expertise.Well, mistakes and struggle be gone---
In steps Brass Pineapple Interiors and Liz Flinn, out steps my feelings of being insanely overwhelmed with interior and exterior paint colors, furniture placement and over-all flow of our new home.  Can you hear the exhale and relaxation in my words?
Let me just say that working with Brass Pineapple Interiors resulted in a seamless, organized, stress-free, beautifully designed project.  The personal attention and focus on detail cannot be replicated by another designer.  We are beyond pleased and will absolutely be working with Liz and Brass Pineapple Interiors again!

Makeover: Lighten and Brighten

Our Den isn't the only space on the receiving end of a make-over, recently I had the pleasure of working on a client's great room. This particular client wanted to lighten, brighten and update their great room by incorporating a blend of Pottery Barn and Southern Living style.

We found an inspiration room to jump start the process (see above) to set the tone for her new look. Then we created a mood board with shopable links enabling her to create the space of her dreams, over time and within her budget.

 Although I wish I could be the one installing these projects for my clients, I am confident that they have the tools to create an amazing space on their own. I'll be impatiently waiting for the "after" images, while easing my woos with these sweet words she left me:

"I am a very satisfied client...I was thrilled with the choices and I really love your design esthetic.  I think out of all the blogs out there I seem to enjoy looking at yours the most!!" e-client, Raleigh

January

It's the last Friday in January, I'm jetting off to Chicago today (don't even get me started on how cold it will be there!), and I'm having a really hard time processing just how fast this month has flown. It's been a busy, happy month that directly relates to one of my goals for 2015. Here's a snippet of what I've been up to, client wise.

A moodboard for a shared girl's room.

Coordinating schemes for a mid century modern living room refresh.

A master bedroom overhaul.

A living room refresh.

Plus, we just finished our first install of the year, here's a little peak you may have caught on Instagram.

It's been a wonderfully busy month, for which I am so very thankful, and I'm please to report that February is looking just as full. I still have a few slots available near the end of the month, email me directly if you'd like to secure one for yourself!

Have a great weekend!
