We've made some real progress in the dining room this year (love saying that seeing as it's only two weeks into 2013!) and I can't wait to share it with you.
But, patience is the name of the game because today I'm only sharing our new window treatments. Truth is they came just before the holidays, I just never had a chance to share them with you.
You may remember that I was slightly obsessed with painting the dining room a terracotta-ish coral color and that it took me forever to settle on a paint. In the end, I had a custom color made for me. {Read more about the paint, by clicking here.} Depending on the time of day, the color ranges between rose/salmon/terracotta. We're really loving it. Phew.
So, when most people start a room redesign with a jumping off fabric that sets the pallet for the whole room, I did the opposite. Let me be the first to tell you, it's not the best plan. Finding a fabric to coordinate with the existing rug and the new paint color was no small feat.
After what felt like ages, I settled on this fabric. In truth, I rushed it a bit and I got inpatient.
When we first installed them, I was nervous. Really nervous. It wasn't love at first sight. It was more of a luke-warm like. But, they are growing on me and I've got a plan up my sleeve to make them a bit more youthful.
And, just because I know everyone loves a little before and after, here's were we started.
Hope you had a great weekend.
Come back soon to check out more progress.

The first thing I noticed was the great wall color...so perfect and fresh for a dining room. The curtains are really pretty and I like how they tie in the rug and wall color. Well done! :)

Very pretty Liz!! Love this room!
Wow, what a difference the beautiful new paint color and window fabric make. Great job and you certainly have made progress.
I love the new drapes and the paint color - I never did find the "perfect" shade of red for my dining room but what I had in mind throughout my search was exactly what you came up with!
So pretty, love your colors and your draperies are sooo pretty!
Blessings,
Cindy
Love the wall colour, but the curtains and window shade are so pretty, you have done a great job .
The design of your dining area made me hungry! Haha! The atmosphere you created is conducive for enjoying meals with the family. I agree with the previous comments here that the color scheme is splendid! You have a great mix of furniture and accessories, and everything made for a perfect dining area. Can I dine with you sometime? Kidding! Hehe :)

Who would lose his/her appetite when having a hearty meal in this dining room? Nobody! I also think that the fabric you chose is perfect for the room. I don’t think you rushed it in any way. I know creative and brighter ideas will be reflected in this room, and I’m looking forward to seeing those. :)

I love your windows, Liz! Having a window like this in the dining room is the one thing that I love about my house. My family loves to eat together overlooking a view of the vast garden. Anyway, I can see that your creativity made the place a lot more inviting and I bet that you’re really enjoying your dining room! :)
